8-bit MMA Morning #Bellator173 Recap

Bellator 173 was entertaining to watch this past Friday. Liam McGeary took the victory looking sharp with his amazing striking abilities against Brett McDermott. I think Liam learned a lot from his title loss and is looking to redeem himself climbing back to the top of his division with the belt around his waist one more time. 

Rising star James Gallagher sure brings attention to his Irish fans and continued his winning streak. 5 Submission wins and only 1 decision. "The Strabanimal" definitely brings his allegiance of fans like his mentor Conor McGregor. They train out of SGB Ireland. I see similar traits in both fighters of course but I am looking for Gallagher to try to set himself apart from his mentor and make a name for himself. I want to see who he truly is as a fighter and how he will stack up against top contenders. Keep your eyes on this fighter to watch him evolve.

The matchup between Iony Razafiarison vs Sinead Kavanagh was very interesting to watch too. Kavanagh fights out of SGB Ireland with Gallagher and McGregor. Iony picked her shots well inside the cage knowing what her opponent brings with her heavy striking and she kept her distance to secure the win. Iony is another #WMMA fighter to look out for under the radar.

There is much to talk about this coming Fight Week with #Bellator174 card headlining Cohen vs Budd for inaugural Women's Featherweight title bout on March 3rd. In addition, #UFC209 with Woodley vs Wonderboy 2 with a stacked card will be a must buy for hardcore fight fans on the 4th. I hope you enjoyed the fights! Until next time...be easy
