8-bit MMA Rewind #Part2 #UFC210 Buffalo

By Darryn Smith  What.A.Night. So many emotions, weirdness, and heartfelt speeches was how I came out of last night. From early #UFCFightPass preliminaries to the main event overall just hit me in certain ways. The biggest shocker to me and to other fans was retirement of Anthony "Rumble" Johnson in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. He was thankful of his fans and family for their support this whole time but felt it was his time to step away in the prime of his career. He has dedicated his life to another career which was undisclosed at the time. Rumble retired at (22-6). Rumble has been a true class act his whole MMA career. Rumble will be missed inside the Octagon but he feels a need to move on and we wish him the very best in life. Another UFC veteran retired that night prior to Rumble retiring was Canadian Patrick Cote. Cote retires at (23-11). Cote has been through it all in his MMA career. Dedicated man to the sport that never had the UFC belt around his waist but gave it his all every fight. Salute to Cote for being a true warrior inside The Octagon. We wish him well on his journey too. Meanwhile, The Weidman vs Mousasi Fight took an awkward turn ending the fight way early due to bad judgment call by Chris Weidman. The UFC Referee Dan Miragliotta was just following protocol when Weidman felt the knee strikes he took to the head in his three point stance was illegal when on the replay clearly showed the two knee strikes were legal when Weidman's hands were clearly off the mat. Miragliotta followed everything like usual to make sure the fighter was safe and could continue to fight. Once Miragliotta found out that the knee strikes were legal, he mentioned it to Weidman who was still resting on the mat. The Doctors intervened and checked with Weidman to make sure he could continue. A lot was said on both sides which ended in the fight ending due to error due to the fighter. Mousasi took the win via TKO. UFC Correspondent Joe Rogan spoke to both fighters after all this drama inside the Octagon and pointed out to Weidman that the hits were legal and Weidman still seemed out of it to truly understand what was going on. Weidman said what he had to say about the whole situation and thanked the fans for all their support this week and told us he would be back. Mousasi did the same acknowledging what all occurred and will continue to fight until he gets his overdue title shot hopefully this year. Two positives I took out of the night were the Women's fights. The Chookagian fight went very well like expected. Chookagian won the fight. It was a hard fought battle between Aldana and her but she took the decision. In addition, Cynthia Cavillo looked very impressive winning two fights in one month. Honestly, I am still learning bits and pieces about her story but she is determined to go out there to win every fight and give the fans something to talk about. #FightFans can definitely get behind her. Dana White, UFC President, in his post-fight scrum, gave her high praise that she is the kind of fighter like Ronda Rousey or Conor McGregor type that is highly marketable and can be a game changer. I am still trying to wrap my head around Rumble Johnson retirement but he said on Twitter that we will be the first to know his next move. Stay tuned by following him @Anthony_Rumble and his fan page on Facebook for the latest. Here is the Saturday results from UFC 210: Main card (PPV) Daniel Cormier def.
