#UFConFox24 *Special UFC Edition * This Saturday cannot come any sooner. UFC debuts for it's first time in KAN.SAS.CITY. Hardcore #FightFans have been waiting for this opportunity. UFC was purchased by Dana White and The Fertittas Brothers back in January 2001, the Fertittas bought the UFC for $2 million and created Zuffa, LLC as the parent entity controlling the UFC. A lot has changed over the years when UFC first took off from the ground when it was all about the true martial artists vs big brawlers vs technical fighters or guys without a lot of experience in no-holds bar fights. In Modern Day, everyone wants to see the big money super fights but I will save UFC history for another time. It is time for Kansas City to shine this weekend! We have exciting stacked card for #kansascity. When rumors started circulating about UFC coming here...all we had was Tim Elliott vs Louis Smolka back in early February. Throughout the weeks we started hearing more buzz about the elite promotion coming to my hometown. UFC made a short announcement about UFC coming to The Sprint Center on April 15th on a ppv/Fight Night event in middle of February. Even more buzz at end of the month. As the weeks came about, certain fighters would hint towards their fights coming up soon if you follow any of them on Twitter and Instagram. More and more fighters were being added to the card which built even more excitement. Two hometown fighters from Glory MMA Tim Elliott and Zak Cummings on Fox preliminaries this Saturday with Head Trainer James Krause in their corner. The best pound for pound UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson headlining the Fox card. How can this card not excite you?!? We have Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson vs Wilson Reis...a successful title defense will tie The GOAT Anderson Silva in active winning streak defending your belt. In addition, Michelle "Karate Hottie" Waterson vs Rose Namajunas, Tim Elliott vs Louis Smolka, Zak Cummings vs Nathan Coy, and Ashlee Evans-Smith vs Ketlen Vieira all this Saturday night only on Fox. My 8-bit MMA Fighter of The Week is Michelle "Karate Hottie" Waterson. Waterson fights out of Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque New Mexico. Waterson was born into a family of martial artists from very early age. She has been fighting professionally over past 10 years. One of the biggest moments of her #WMMA career was on April 5th 2013 when she made her Invicta FC debut by defeating Atomweight Champion at the time Jessica Penne. The fight went back and forth during the rounds but Waterson was able to submit Penne via armbar Round 4(2:31). She defended her belt against Yasuku Tamada that September 2014 by TKO. Waterson had to defend her belt against Herica Tiburcio that December. Only to lose the belt that night. It was a heartbreaking defeat for her after all these years of fighting. Waterson decided to take about year and a half off from the sport. She needed to find solid ground again and refocus on what is most important in her life being a full-time Mom,wife, and full-time fighter. All of this is captured on her #FightMom documentary streaming on #UFCFightPass and #Uninterrupted. It was one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. You feel everything she felt during her ups and downs. Please check it out before she fights on Saturday. Waterson came back making her UFC debut against Angela Magana. Defeating via Rear Naked Choke,Round 3(2:38). Her most recent win came last year when she beat rising star Paige Van Zant on UFC Fight Night card in Sacramento by Technical submission Rear Naked Choke,Round 1(3:21). This Saturday night, Karate Hottie will try her best to secure a win to put her next in line against UFC Strawweight Champion, Joanna Jędrzejczyk. Joanna feels it is Waterson time to shine with her under the spotlight. That should be an intense battle between both ladies. Waterson is very aware of it and once to be champion one day. Both ladies have shown respect for each other during media events. Waterson is not putting anything past Namajunas. Namajunas has an impressive resume too. Rose made it to #TUF20Finale and came very close to winning it all in a fight with Carla Esparza that night. Namajunas did some soul searching too awhile back to after that loss on TUF and is determined to get back in line for a title shot should she win Saturday night. Once everything settles after Saturday night battle than will know Waterson and Namajunas next move in any post-fight interviews. Tune in for this exciting stacked card live from Sprint Center. You do not want to miss out.
