By Darryn Smith What.A.Great night in Rio De Janeiro. If you missed it than make sure to catch the replay someway somehow. No wedding proposals this time but every fight delivered. There was one early stoppage on Silva vs Medeiros fight. Silva was on his way out anyway with few more big shots. We can debate it all day but the ref did what was right at the time to protect the fighter. Vitor Belfort will apparently be with us for 5 more fights. Earlier in the week, I assumed this was Belfort last fight in his native land like he proposed to us few months ago but there were more fights still left so with this new or remaining deal. Vitor should be very choosy on which opponents he shall fight to finish up his career. I definitely do not want to see Vitor traveling down same road as "The Prodigy " and active UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn over past few months. Penn will be fighting again on 25th of this month against Dennis Siver live in Oklahoma City,Oklahoma. In addition, Viviane Pereira in #WMMA is quietly making a name for herself. She stays low-key on social media but reminds undefeated in her career at (13-0.) She defeated Jamie Moyle last night with unanimous decision. Keep your eye on her. She might be due for a title shot coming soon. In the co-mainevent, Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs Brazilian native Claudia Gadelha. It only went 3 minutes and 3 seconds long in first round. Gadelha seemed very focused going into this fight under her new fight camp with #JacksonWinkMMA. She kept her composure and waited for the right moment to submit Kowalkiewicz with a Rear Naked Choke. Gadelha is ready anytime UFC gives her another opportunity at the belt against current UFC Women's Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Rose Namajunas might still be in the mix as next contender depending on which way UFC wants to go handling this situation. We will break any news that may be available soon as it is announced. The fight we all been waiting for in mainevent between was current UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo vs UFC Interm Featherweight Champion Max Holloway. Aldo started off with flurries for first round to kick everything off but Holloway chin stayed strong the whole time. Aldo took second round getting in good shots but by third round was when the momentum started to favor for Holloway. Holloway came in super relaxed and expecting anything Aldo would bring his way every round in this championship fight. Holloway dropped Aldo in 3rd round, Aldo tried to successfully defend himself. John McCarthy gave Aldo enough space and time to see if he could bounce back. Holloway mounted him with punches than Aldo turned other way facing the mat defending his head while Holloway kept throwing punches from his back but Aldo had no more left in his tank so it was waved off by McCarthy as a TKO win (strikes). Aldo looked prepared for this fight too. I was little surprised he did not land any leg strikes this fight like we normally see but all fights can be strategically set in so many ways to defeat your opponents. The "Blessed Era" has begun. Let us see what is next for the new champ after he takes his week off to recover and sits down with UFC to see who his next opponent will be. Main Card Max Holloway def.
