By Darryn Smith Good night for Australian fans and around the world that tuned in for this fight card. Australia adopted the new 2017 unified rules for this event too. In early preliminaries on #UFCFightPass, we kicked off with JJ Aldrich vs Chan-mi Jeon. Jeon at 19 years young, debut went well against Aldrich. Both ladies were keeping the pace going back and forth with good amount of strikes. JJ landed more solid strikes every round but Jeon stayed with her the whole time. Aldrich ended up winning by unanimous decision. Jeon has plenty of room to keep on growing in this sport as well as Aldrich. Enjoyable fight from these ladies! Excited to see these ladies in near future. Meanwhile,"Chicano John" Moraga vs Ashkan Mokhtarian was a good fight that favored Moraga's way all three rounds. Moraga had his best performance to date. Solid strikes standing up and a wicked knee strike that landed on his opponent during a round. Moraga put on a grappling clinic on Mokhtarian. Moraga won big on judges score cards taking the win by decision. In his post-fight interview, Moraga was asked what is next for him, Moraga stated he just wants to rest up this week and see what opportunity strikes next for this Flyweight. In second fight on main card, Tim Elliott vs Ben Nguyen. Good all around movement in this fight from both fighters starting off. Elliott looked good coming in but just in 49 seconds of first round, Nguyen submitted Elliott with a Rear Naked Choke. Just like that it was over. It was a Nguyen Nguyen situation. We shall see these fighters once again on a card very soon. In the mainevent, Derrick "The Beast" Lewis vs Mark "The Super Samoan" Hunt. These two heavyweights gave it their every round going into Championship rounds. It was an all out slugfest. Lewis had impressive strikes for a big man in there. Hunt seemed to take Round 1 and 2. About mid-way in, Lewis was edging back into win 3rd Round. During 3rd Round, Lewis was showing signs of fatigue as Hunt was wearing him down with body shots and few leg kicks to slow him down even more. Hunt landed flying knee and few more punches on Lewis in 4th Round that ended the fight in TKO. In post-fight interviews, Derrick Lewis stated that this was his last fight with UFC due to a back injury he suffered in 2011. Lewis plans on getting married very soon and did not want to put his family through this crazy lifestyle anymore. We at 8-bit MMA wish Derrick Lewis the best in life as he moves on from MMA to something else more full filling in life. Also, Mark Hunt appreciated all the support from his family, friends, and fans there. Hunt still wants to avenge his loss to Overeem or take a fight with Junior Dos Santos in Japan.
