What a turn of events for the mainevent yesterday when the news broke that Amanda Nunes was out of the title fight due to illness. Shevchenko was obviously upset and made her statement regarding it on Twitter and interviews yesterday. Nunes posted her statement in early afternoon today from her Twitter page regarding the situation. Dana White stated on post-fight interview that UFC will reschedule the fight for possible September pay-per-view card in Canada at #UFC215. In addition, I commend Joanna Jedrzejczyk for going above and beyond to try to save the UFC 213 card by going through all the chains of command to fight Shevchenko with Nunes out but there was just not enough time in the day to make it happen. Jedrzejczyk wanted to put on a show for the fans because she felt sad for both ladies in this situation. I want to focus on the mainevent from this card. Yoel Romero vs Robert Whittaker. The intensity level for these fighters seemed very high and kind of calmed down later on into the fight. Both fighters were going back and forth landing solid shots. Both fighters displayed great skill with high kicks and whatever else they had in their arsenal. Romero hurt Whittaker's leg in first round but Whittaker stayed strong fighting through the pain. Also, Whittaker's defensive wrestling skills, was very good against Romero with his Olympic style wrestling experience too. By the third round, you could sense Romero was a little worn down from their brawling but Romero was not necessarily out of it. Whittaker had taken little more advantage throughout the fight. The two battled it out into the championship rounds. Whittaker won by unanimous decision and was crowned as the new UFC Interm Middleweight Champion last night. After the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Bisping confronted Whittaker inside The Octagon to sell their title fight but Whittaker did not seem phased at all by Bisping as Whittaker took it all in. Whittaker and Bisping will definitely make this championship fight happen once Dana White and UFC figure out the date and announce it soon. Here are the final results from the rest of the UFC 213 card: #Maincard Robert Whittaker def. Yoel Romero via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47) Alistair Overeem def.
