My #8bitMMA Fighter of The Week is "Suga" Rashad Evans. Evans was born in Niagara Falls,New York. He splits time fighting out of Blackzilians/Jaco Hybrid Training Center. Evans record stands today at (19-6). Evans remained undefeated from 2004-2008 fighting for smaller promotions to fulfilling his UFC career. Evans went on a 15-fight win streak when he met Forrest Griffin almost 10 years ago winning the UFC Light Heavyweight belt on December 27th,2008 at #UFC92 by TKO (strikes). A #FunFact, Evans is first fighter to ever win The Ultimate Fighter Heavyweight season 2 and become a World Champion in UFC History. Evans most heated rivalry came against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson back in 2010. That TUF season received good ratings leading up to their fight May 29th of that year at #UFC114. Evans won by unanimous decision. He kept his winning streak alive by defeating UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz followed by Phil Davis. All of it came to an end when he fought current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones back at #UFC145. In 2013, he defeated another future UFC Hall of Famer, Dan Henderson than Chael Sonnen. Evans last 3 losses have come by good Contenders as of late. Evans is looking for a great chance to get back into his winning again when he takes on MMA veteran "Smile'N" Sam Alvey this Saturday night from Mexico City,Mexico. Evans has strong wrestling skills and can use his black belt skills in BJJ to compliment his powerful striking skills to take out his opponents one by one. Let's see if he has learned anything from his last 3 losses for a win as he tries to get one last shot at UFC Gold. Here how the rest of the card stacks up from Mexico City: Sergio Pettis vs Brandon Moreno Randa Markos vs Alexa Grasso Alan Jouban vs Niko Price Martin Bravo vs Humberto Bandenay Sam Alvey vs Rashad Evans Alejandro Perez vs Andre Soukhamthath Joseph Morales vs Roberto Sanchez Alvaro Herrera vs Jordan Rinaldi Thanks for the support as we continue to bring you more coverage leading into every new #FightWeek.
