Our #8bitMMA Fighter of The Week is Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis. He was born in Houston,Texas. Fights out of Silverback Fight Club. Lewis current record stands at (18-5). His fight career started back in 2010. From 2011-2014, Lewis went on a hot streak until he met current Bellator MMA fighter Matt Mitrione on the #UFCFightNight50 card which ended in a KO loss. The Black Beast went on another hot 6 win fight streak starting back in 2015 to the present day. He was knocking off the heads of Victor Pesta,Damian Grabowski,Gabriel Gonzaga,Roy Nelson,Shamil Abdurakhimov, and Travis Browne. Lewis’s last loss came into the hands of Mark Hunt on another #UFCFightNight110. Which prompted a short term retirement by Lewis out there in New Zealand. A lot was on his mind. Lewis never really took any breaks during his fight camps preparing for his fights and kept going until he finally burned out mentally. During Lewis’s partial retirement, he tied the knot with his fiancée and life was good until Hurricane Irma hit the state of Texas in his hometown of Houston. Lewis proved how big of a man he really was by helping out his fellow neighbors with his white pickup truck and getting as many people as he could to safety and shelter. Lewis is still helping out his people in Houston as he trained for this new fight coming up this Saturday vs #UFCLegend Fabricio Werdum. This should be one dawg fight in Heavyweight division that you must see on the card. Here is how the UFC 216 stacks up as of today: Tony Ferguson vs Kevin Lee Demetrious Johnson vs Ray Borg Fabricio Werdum vs Derrick Lewis Beneil Dariush vs Evan Dunham Tom Duquesnoy vs Cody Stamann Will Brooks vs Nik Lentz Lando Vannata vs Bobby Green Pearl Gonzalez vs Poliana Botelho Walt Harris vs Mark Godbeer John Moraga vs Magomed Bibulatov Thales Leites vs Brad Tavares Matt Schnell vs Marco Beltran *Card subject to change* We appreciate all that have stayed wit us during this time since Day 1 and all the fans.
